No resolutions, no goals. Nothing.
And somehow… that feels exactly right.

For everyone who’s craving something real this New Year:

No resolutions. No goals. New Year’s wishes for those craving the real stuff

And here we are again, staring down another New Year. The world’s buzzing,  social feeds full of plans, goals, resolutions… and here I’m, sitting here, thinking:

What do I want?…
Nothing.
I don’t want anything.

Yep, that’s where I am at right now… It’s a sentiment that’s been on my mind yet again, I’m not sure how many are there just like me?… you tell me…

Look, I know we’ve all heard it before that it’s totally okay not to want the usual stuff. No fancy things, no far-off vacations. And that’s because deep down, I think most of us crave the small, soulful stuff… I know I do…

You know, the moments that sneak up on you and leave your heart a little fuller. For me, it’s not the big, loud, flashy things—it’s those tiny sparks of magic… Like… you know that feeling when someone you love just randomly hugs you? Or those mornings when you wake up naturally, no alarm, and just lie there listening to the rain, or something like that… That gentle forehead kiss that says ‘I see you’ without any words… or taking a walk where you actually notice things – maybe it’s the way the sunlight hits the waves, or how the leaves dance in the park… Or when it’s just you, a good book, your favorite blanket (you know, the one that’s probably too worn out but you don’t care), and maybe a furry friend snoring away softly somewhere nearby… Yep, those sweet little things….

But here’s what I think is really going on… Maybe when we say we don’t want anything, what we’re actually saying is that our hearts are hungry for something more real… Something that Amazon Prime can’t deliver in 24 hours, you know what I mean?

When enough calls for more

Somewhere between gratitude and longing lives a truth we rarely talk about. That tiny flutter in a perfectly content heart. That whisper of possibility when everything is already ‘enough.’…

You know that almost tangible pull towards something more when everything is already beautiful? It’s not greedy, it’s not restless – it’s just… alive. Wonderfully, wildly alive.

For the dreamers who feel almost guilty for wanting to turn up the brightness on an already beautiful life…

And of course… there are those of you out there who are in this beautiful place where you’re just… content. You’ve got your health humming along, love that makes you glow, those ride-or-die friends who show up with soup when you’re sick, family that gets you… Yeah, you’re living that life where everything just… fits.

Maybe for you, this whole New Year buzz feels different. Like, the fireworks don’t give you those same butterflies they used to. And you know what? That’s actually kind of beautiful too.

But here’s what I wish for you, my content friends

I hope you never stop wanting. Not in that anxious, scrolling-through-social-media kind of way. But in that… ‘life is one big playground, and I’m not done exploring’ kind of way. Because that wonderful life you’ve built? Those settings you’ve got just right? Who says we can’t turn up the brightness even more?

Hey, I see you there, clutching your plans with white knuckles, trying to make sense of it all. So, maybe, the most beautiful thing we can do this new year is loosen our grip a little. You know that moment when life completely rewrites your story? Yeah, that one.

When your plans slip through your fingers like water and somehow… that terrifying free-fall becomes your greatest gift. That confusing, vulnerable space where our carefully crafted scripts meet the universe’s wild imagination, and the universe just… laughs. Hands you something so wildly different it takes your breath away.

Now, if you’re anything like me… you’re in this space where wanting becomes this strange, shifting thing. Sometimes, you can almost grasp it; other times, it slips away completely. And just when you think you’ve figured it out… Life has its own ideas. And sometimes, they’re beautiful surprises that exceed anything you could have imagined. Other times… well, let’s be real – they can knock you flat. That’s part of the whole messy truth of it all…

So here’s my New Year’s wish for you:

Keep playing this beautiful, messy game of Life with the Universe. Be that co-creator of your story – you know, the one who says ‘yes, and… ‘ok, now what’ to whatever comes your way. Because, staying open to what comes, even when it’s not what you expected, that’s where the real transformation happens.

And speaking of wisdom… there’s this beautiful Rumi quote that’s been living rent-free in my head lately:

‘Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love.
It will not lead you astray’

You know, a few years back, when all these feelings were swirling around in my head, they actually turned into something else. Somthing that I like to share with you because, honestly, it feels even more true today than when I wrote it…

When was the last time something touched your soul so deeply you had to catch your breath?

I Just Crave the Real

You ever just sit there,
feeling the weight of it all –
not the kind that crushes,
but the kind that makes you ache
for something.. not more… but real?

Feel that? Just craving the real,
a laugh with friends, a home-cooked meal,
not the loud, not the bright, not the fast,
but those slow, small things, the ones that last.

You know the hunger I mean, right?
That deep-down ache for something raw, true –
like when someone sees past your social mask
to the beautiful mess behind that is you,
and stays.
Not “because,”
but through.

Maybe that’s the whole point:
not building brands or chasing likes,
but collecting tiny infinite gems:
like coffee steam curling into the morning light,
or text messages that say “you alive?”
at exactly the right moment in time,
the weight of a cat asleep on your chest
when the world feels too heavy,
and you need to catch your breath.

To everyone searching through the dark,
chasing meaning in notifications spark:
Hi 👋🏻 it’s ok if your path looks more like
a drunk GPS than a straight line.
Take the scenic route. Get beautifully lost.

So when the clock ticks past midnight
and the world pretends everything’s new again:
may you find those glitch-in-the-matrix moments
when everything feels impossibly Alive –
no filters, no edits, no takes,
just you, breathing in reality,
finding your place in the storm,
where being real becomes the norm,
where your heart beats wild and true,
where masks melt like morning dew,
and you finally understand – being you
is the bravest thing you’ll ever do.

Here I am –  Nothing & Everything

Somewhere between wanting everything and nothing at all, there’s this sacred place called now. Where your contradictions aren’t wounds to heal, but stories to hold close. Where ‘I don’t know’ becomes the most honest prayer your heart can whisper.

For all of us sitting in our beautiful mess this New Year, not quite sure what to want or where to reach… maybe this moment – this exact, imperfect, breath-catching moment of being here, is the truest resolution of all.

So breathe out,
let your shoulders drop,
soften your grip,
because in this moment between what was and what could be, you’re right on time.
Your path, your pace, your way of being here – it’s all part of your story unfolding.

So here we are… Whether you’re wanting everything, nothing, or that mysterious something in between – you’re exactly where you need to be.

Because you know, sometimes the most honest thing we can say at the start of a New Year isn’t ‘I want this’ or ‘I want that’… but simply ‘Here I am.’ I’m here with all my contradictions, wanting nothing and everything all at once. And somehow… that’s exactly perfect. And I’m so glad you are here… wanting or not wanting, just exactly as you are.

Be Alive 🌱
Love ❤️, Julia
