Revision
Days revise me.
A sentence snaps mid-breath,
a paragraph disappears,
the cursor blinks, patient as a knife,
a comma moves,
a pause opens
and my lungs fit the line.
Then the bigger edits:
a message lands,
a room expands,
a truth barges in without asking.
Loss leaves white space.
I keep returning to the gap,
a quick tap to see if it still hurts.
Joy leaves evidence:
coffee ring on a draft,
a laugh cracking a line open.
A word arrives and the line starts breathing.
I keep chasing a clean draft,
one version that holds still long enough to read,
but life keeps sliding the text around.
So I learn a different craft:
cut performance,
keep what holds weight,
leave the seams visible
where I stitched myself back together.
The cursor blinks.
It waits.
