Before birth,
your mother breathed for you,
oxygen through the umbilical cord,
no effort, no choice,
just receiving…

connection confirmed, 
the world’s excited –
you made it, you’re here, you exist!
 
Your new cord – air,
invisible,
everywhere,
like the universal wifi – 
always on, no password needed,
connecting to something
much bigger than you.
 
Your dependencies switched  –
from mother to atmosphere,
from one cord to another.
 
Never actually separate,
never actually alone,
every breath proves it:
you’re still tethered,
still being fed,
still connected
to everything
that breathes the same air.
